During visits to the Moulin David by the general public, we noticed the interest shown by many children in real-life electricity production. So we set up a fun educational workspace for them to discover the magic of electricity.
On site at the Moulin David, volunteers from the Divonnelectro association present interactive demonstrations and experiments on:
Innovative interactive models have been created especially to see and understand the working principles of a mill:
Through fun experiments, and by handling educational equipment, they discover many remarkable ways of producing static electricity and an electric current.
In conclusion, they will see the real-life transformation of energy from the waters of the Divonne-Versoix river into electricity to light up lamps. All this thanks to the Moulin David’s imposing hundred-year-old machines which have been so remarkably restored.
A second group alternates with a visit outside along the Divonne-Versoix river and its leats (water supply channels) to bring to life the numerous mills that once operated along it.
The visits are suitable for students and activity centre participants starting from CE2 level.
The workshop is divided into two 45-minute sessions, lasting an hour and a half plus a 15-minute break. We divide a class into two groups, one outside along the Divonne-Versoix to learn about the history of the mills, and the other inside to watch the experiments with teachers, scientists and engineers.
These are discoveries that require no prior knowledge. We can also adapt to your specific needs and requests.
An opportunity for children to learn actively, ask questions and develop a taste for science.
